I conduct research in experimental high energy physics with collider experiments. My focus has been on the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron proton anti-proton collider since joining KU in 2001. My D0 work has been with the fiber tracker and its trigger, and my physics involvement has centered on electroweak physics and the search for the Higgs. Much of my career has been with the OPAL experiment at the CERN LEP collider studying electroweak physics and searching for new phenomena with electron-positron collisions. I am also very much committed to realizing a future electron-positron collider such as ILC. This is the kind of machine which is ideal for precision measurement and thus understanding of kinematically accessible new particles such as the Higgs. I have worked extensively on developing the physics case, and am participating in detector R&D for linear colliders including with the CALICE calorimetry experiment and the preparation of the experimental program with the International Large Detector concept (ILD).

Data-taking for D0 and the Tevatron has now come to an end. I am moving my main hadron collider research efforts to the CMS experiment at the LHC. I re-joined CMS at the start of 2012, twenty years after signing the CMS Letter of Intent! Physics interests are focused on medium-term opportunities related to 14 TeV running. My initial detector emphasis is on the High Level Trigger (HLT) for muons.
